I made this illustration because I wanted to try out the support for pressure sensitive tablets that was introduced in Inkscape 1.0. The lines turned out a bit squiggly so I spent some time cleaning things up and then coloring with the paint bucket tool.
About half way through in the coloring process I noticed that the accuracy of the paint bucket actually depends on how much you zoom in on the document. So besides changing the paint bucket preferences, that’s a tip right there if you want to get more accurate results when coloring illustrations.
One thing that surprised me is that although Inkscape seems to make several pressure sensitivity ”samples” while you draw a line, the Powerstroke LPE only adds one single point that decides how the brushstroke should turn out. Hopefully this feature becomes more flexible in future versions of Inkscape.
