Inkscape version 1.0.1 patches crashes & bugs
6. září 2020 13:31
Inkscape's team of developers has patched bugs and crashes, and generally improve on version 1.0 in this latest release, version 1.01. You'll find a few features, too, along with translation updates for more than a dozen languages.
Built with the power of a team of mostly volunteers, this open source vector editor represents the work of many hearts and hands from around the world, ensuring that Inkscape remains available free for everyone to download and enjoy.
Selectors and CSS dialog now available!
The Selectors and CSS dialog that was hidden and labelled as 'experimental' in Inkscape 1.0 is now available from the Object menu in 1.0.1. This new dialog allows users to edit a CSS stylesheet for the document and also to select all objects with a certain CSS selector, providing a replacement for the Selection Sets dialog, that had to be removed for Inkscape 1.0.
Experimental Color-managed PDF export using Scribus
For those of you longing for the day when Inkscape and CMYK are compatible, there's hope on the horizon. Presenting... the experimental Scribus PDF export extension!
It's early days, so there are a few important steps to follow in order to generate that PDF. Make sure you double check the result before sending it to the printer. You'll find this feature as one of the many export formats in the 'Save as' and 'Save a Copy' dialogs. The color managed color selector in the Fill and Stroke dialog has also been fixed, so you can try this new feature out. Leave your feedback about what works / doesn't work in Inkscape's Inbox.
Other colorful features include the following: Color > List All, a new extension that lists all colors used in a document and the Interpolate extension, which now works on gradients in fills and strokes and named colors,
Crash & Bug Fixes
This release is still a "preview" for macOS users, which means that additional improvements are scheduled for the next versions. Linux users will be happy to learn that the snap-packaged version of Inkscape now finds all your installed fonts. Improvements have been made to the zoom correction factor, the document properties dialog and zooming. A number of tools are working better as of version 1.0.1: tweaks to the 3D-box, Eraser and Gradient tools will please users along with those to the Node, Pencil, Selector and Text tools. Many program crashes that plagued Inkscape 1.0 will no longer occur with the latest version.
Certain Live Path Effects (LPEs) are more stable. The Clone original LPE now works with text elements and can better handle transformations, such as moving, stretching and shearing. Extensive fixes were made to the Inkscape Python extensions, allowing them to function properly again after the big overhaul for Inkscape 1.0. Other improvements include tweaks to the Knot LPE , the LPE selection dialog, the Roughen LPE, the Fill between many option, and Inkscape keeps going when selecting an object that is used for the Pattern-Along-Path LPE.
