Hi Maren, Thanks! The character is actually a stylised lion!In this case it is a one legged lion (with a very long neck!). Birds, usually eagles, are used less frequently in celtic lettering. You can tell the difference between lions and eagles by their feet: lions have three or four forward facing toes and eagles have two forward facing and one rear facing toes. Hope this helps
