Thanks for the port, haven't tried the old version. But when I try to follow the SinContourOnCircle example I get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "guilloche_pattern.py", line 30, in <module>
from inkex import paths
ImportError: cannot import name paths

xR2, Sorry you're having trouble.

The error message you are getting is from the very beginning of the guilloche_pattern.py code. It is trying to import features from the core part of Inkscape. Those features are used later in the extension, but when the extension fails in any core execution I can't help you since I know nothing about the core code. Here are a few things you might try to narrow down the possible problems.

As I understand it, you opened file ...\PatternTests\SineWaveCircleWithCircle\SinContourOnCircleAndCircleInput.svg, and attempted to run the extension guilloche_pattern, and got the error message. Is this a correct description of the sequence of actions that fails for you?

If not, please try the above test. I can complete this sequence of actions successfully on versions v1.1 and v1.2.2.

I run Inkscape on Window 10. What is your operating system? Good luck.

There are many XML errors in the current ZIP file:

parser error : Opening and ending tag mismatch: option line … and _option

The solution is simple: just search-and-replace "_option" into "option" on both `*.inx` files.

While you're doing that, you can also change the submenu name from "Examples" to something more meaningful.

Hello DrWiggly, I have your Guilloche 1.1 extension working well on InkScape 1.1.2 (Ubuntu 22.04). I am a historian working on 19th century documents and wrote a python3 script to emulate a Kampf Geometric Lathe commonly used to ornament them. I have some maths for you that will add to your extension in a way that looks more like the engravings typical of the period. I don't know how to attach code or images here. Please let me know if you are interested in exchanging some insights. I can send the script and its user manual at your request.
