Today I'll be demonstrating how to create a vector heartbeat logo that can be compatible with any other sort of theme. I often see people selling t shirts on Facebook using this sort of concept - depicting dogs, cats, instruments, skylines, etc. - and advertising them against those audiences. The goal of this tutorial is to teach you how to create these designs yourself.

This tutorial is for Inkscape version 0.48 and is intended to teach beginners how to use the software. Inkscape is a great free alternative to Illustrator and Corel Draw.

I've been trying to duplicate this design and i'm having difficulty. I downloaded the images of dogs as per you link and when I bring it into Inkscape I can't ungroup it. I have downloaded several different images from pixabay and I'm finding the same thing. I have taken some png images and converted them to svg however they don't seem to work either. Can you give me some help with this?
