Hello,
For some mechanical drawings, such as in patents, hatch patterns must be used.
In the attached tutorial I describe how to create neat patterns, and I also include a pattern file with 39 standard hatch patterns to be used in Inkscape.
The last section in the tutorial describes how to use these patterns in two different ways.
For folks who want to modify these patterns or create their own, a description is added with how they were made using Python. The Python script is also included.

Thanks for the very helpful tutorial! As another person mentioned, the referenced Defs.txt is missing in the ZIP. For those having trouble, you can generate this file by running the python script.
