A chance to ask questions and see how things are going between Inkscape and the Freedom Conservancy organisation.
Pono wants to review it and will have feedback by next Monday. He thinks there a lot of things in there which would be overlap with a fund raising plan so it might be made more simple.
Martin, René and Jonathan did a quick review of the document after this meeting.
Tav got pono in touch with the LGM folks about coordinating something there. To see if they have space. Tav has some plans to organise something for formally.
For FORDEM we can get together and do a meal which can be more casual. We don't know who will be there yet and on which days. We don't have a formal presence at FOSDEM. But we should do social things and take advantage of people travelling to the same place.
Catch up Pono on the situation with Gtk4/Gnome and the resource and mission differences with up-streams. René gave an account of the struggles we have with macOS support and Martin gave an account of the possible problems with might have if we decided to invest Inkscape funds into solving the issues, but those contributions were unwelcome at Gnome. The project is finding that moving to Gtk4 so soon means we have put ourselves in the position of finding the issues that in the past would have been cleaned up by other contributors. But for Inkscape this is mission critical since availability of Inkscape on all platforms serves our accessability criteria.
Pono suggests inviting other projects that use Gtk, or other large projects who may not use Gtk into what a cross platform GUI framework might look like and what are the needs of projects from framework operators and visa versa. Sitting down in a birds of feather would be productive.
Martin brought the GitLab invitation to a DEI project which GitLab about like Inkscape to be a part of. It includes a badge and a press release. Pono is going to ask the folks at Outreachy what this looks like and if it's worth partipating in. https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/marketing/developer-relations/open-source-program/gitlab-open-source-partners/community-resources/-/issues/2
