Hi, I am not quite sure if it was only me, but I am new to Inkscape and I tried installing it on my mac using the latest beta version. It seems to be slow and most of the time if I open dialog boxes, it seems that those dialog gets stuck and i can't even close them. I tried installing the latest beta version on my windows laptop as well, and everything seems to be fine and smooth. The difference is noticeable even though my mac has higher specs compared to my windows laptop. Is there anything I should do to make mac to make it better?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys might give.

You can report any specific performance issue to https://inkscape.org/contribute/report-bugs/ .
But it's known issue that mac performance is the best on a mac and it's probably not going to be fixed for 1.0 :/

Yes, I can confirm performance issues - I've got MacBook Pro with i9, so specs should not be the issue. XQuartz 0.94.4 compiled using MacPorts runs much more smoothly (although far worse than on Windows device).

Anyway, thanks guys for your effort and this fantastic app, I really enjoy working with it :)

I confirm, Inkscape 1.0.1 is very slow on Mac with Catalina.  Moving objects is sluggish and imprecise.  Entering text is also behaving erratically.  Beta it is.

I'd try changing the Redraw setting. It has helped in some cases.
