What I'm trying to do is simple but I can't find anything in the user's manual about cropping. I have a .pdf file with a shipping label. The problem is the label is surrounded by white space far larger then an 8.5 x 11 sheet and I just need to extract the label from the white space. So I import the .pdf to Inkscape and now I have an object far larger than the page with the shipping label surrounded by white space. How do I either crop the white space away surrounding the label or extract the label from the object so that it can be printed?
Status bar says "Group". So with a bit of luck ungrouping will allow to select the large object to delete accordingly.
If thatΒ΄s not working because itΒ΄s just a raster image for instance labeled as group you can draw a rectangle around the content you want to keep; select both and go Object->Clip->Set and Inkscape will mask everything outside the rectangle.

I'll try those. I think it's a raster.
Thanks
Inkscape doesn't have a Magic Wand tool. That's a raster software tool.
