Many years of illustrator (creative cloud paid) user, I found this 'inkscape' by accident and I realised it's way better than illustrator and very easy once you have a grip of how things work. Learning curve is surprisingly flat, many things just take minutes to figure out (though some of them took watching 2 minute youtube video ;) )
Inkscape is Free and Open Source Software licensed under the GPL.
