This is Martin Owens, the website administrator for inkscape.org, we recently did an upgrade to fix a few new issues in the forum software that cropped up since opening and one of your messages got caught up in the cross fire.
I am terribly sorry for the error. And do let me know directly if you ever see any messages disappear or other interesting quirks.
Thanks for your time,
Best Regards, Martin Owens Volunteer Website Administrator
Perhaps this time it would not happen and we just had to jumpstart the thread?
No, that's on me @Maestral. brynn and I have not always gotten on (and have had many arguments) but I wouldn't see blame wrongly put to someone because of my goof.
As it is, I am the god here, I try hard to make sure the data is safe.
But, the good news is that everything here (myself included) is bound by the code of conduct. So if you have any issues with messages being moderated, deleted, or anything else that looks malicious or suspicious. Please do bring it up, if not to me, then it can be escalated to those above me for mediation and investigation. For example looking at the moderation logs.
Well, don`t know about you Ty but there were not many who were happy to see me posting here.... even before the post was deleted ,) https://i.imgur.com/LUQos51.png
No, there was absolutely no malicious intent by anyone here. That is an automatically generated message which everyone sees when they post one of their first 2 messages here. I have in the past asked for it to be edited. I've asked for it to be edited, because clearly it gives the wrong impression. However, in fairness, I asked it inside another issue, and it didn't get the attention it deserves.
Since these guys had proven it as possible - perhaps some other messages could be made gone as well, in a good faith of course? Right bryn? Now, apologies from the real culprit/s will be much much more appreciated.
2 messages by 2 different people were mistakenly removed. Both have been notified with full apologies. I haven't made my way entirely through the forum yet today, so I'm not sure if the other one has re-posted yet. As far as I know, it was some problem with the software (which is entirely over my head), that caused the messages to be deleted.
You are... what? Was the cleaning lady also promoted to... what? ?!
Oh gosh! What Martin means, if I may be so bold as to paraphrase. Martin, who also develops Inkscape, has created this entire website, including gallery and forum, almost entirely on his own. He does get help from others sometimes, but I would say the majority of the code is his. Also, he currently is the only webmaster and sysadmin. So he has a TON of responsibility. I think that's what he meant.
You can be assured that there are no cleaning ladies here!
If something doesn't look or feel right to you, moderation-wise (or software-wise as well), you can report it. We have Forum Rules and Guidelines in this forum, so that when there a problem, any member is able to report it, and have it heard and settled in what we hope is a fair way. And if someone thinks it wasn't fair, they could report that too. There's a link in this message: https://inkscape.org/forums/forum-news/forum-rules/ Although fair warning, it's a long read. (Report software issues in Forum Issues.... board.)
And for the record, I feel like Martin and I get along just fine. We just happen to disagree sometimes, just like with any friendship. But we can be friends and still agree to disagree. (In fact, our major disagreement is over the design of the moderation system. He has made a system which he thinks prevents cleaning ladies from having any cleaning powers. I contend that it takes too much time and energy (twice as much time as traditional moderation), and that traditional moderation systems are perfectly safe, if they are administered conscientiously by people who have appropriate knowledge and experience.)

To you.
