Looks like the extension version for 1.0+ is stuck in beta stage.
I'd install Inkscape .92.x and use the stable extension.

Not able to download Inkscape .92 it auto updates to Inkscape 1.2.
I'd turn of that auto update and download from here: https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-0.92.5/
