1. Inkscape-osxmenu custom theme options:
  2. ======================================
  3. The default theme for Inkscape.app remains GTK2 Adwaita with Inkscape's
  4. default icon set. The dark artlibe theme with custom symbolic gtk icon
  5. theme and Inkscape icon set has been added back, along with the custom
  6. extension to change the theme for the application.
  7. Hopefully, volunteering testers will still enjoy the experimental unofficial
  8. Inkscape-osxmenu builds as before - however:
  9. * if Inkscape-osxmenu builds appear to be too "buggy" or unstable, please
  10. consider using the official package of the current stable release instead.
  11. * if missing features in the Quartz backend of GTK2 (e.g. pinch to zoom, or
  12. support for hiRes screens) are most annoying, then I would recommend to buy
  13. one of the alternative native vector-editor apps in the MAS instead.
  14. Performance issues:
  15. ===================
  16. Two users so far provided feedback that the Quartz-based builds on their
  17. system exposes serious lagging with the drawing tools and the select tool.
  18. Again this issue doesn't reproduce on the build system, but further feedback
  19. (with information about OS X version and installed Graphics card) would be
  20. appreciated. As workaround, hiding the rulers (Ctrl+R) seems to help.
  21. Inkscape-osxmenu GTK3:
  22. ======================
  23. Inkscape has not migrated to GTK3 yet, so any current build of Inkscape trunk
  24. with GTK3 has to be considered highly experimental. Work on GTK3 migration so
  25. far was mostly focused on making it compile and run - many parts of the GUI
  26. (or of the application itself) will need to be refactored or rewritten for
  27. GTK3 (this process has not yet started).
