Hi.Β I am trying to put a patter around a circle.Β I understand the concept and don't have a problem when it is a basic shape.Β What I am trying to do is basically put a smiley face in a circle.Β However, every time I do it, only the circle shows up and not the eyes nose or mouth.Β I have tried to use combine but then one piece is also missing and still, nothing happens.Β I have tried union but then the entire design disappears.Β Β I have tried group and that does nothing either.Β I tried to stroke to path and object to path each individual design as well.Β Nothing.Β Β
When doing a pattern around a design, how do you get the inside pieces to go around the design as well?

Maybe you need to go first to Path->Stroke to Path for the pattern:
