    Hi,

I'm new to inkscape. Β I would like to make a circle that fades at the edges. Β It should not be a soft toning. Β I want small squares / pixels that are becoming fewer and fewer. Β As in the picture but not grain but I want squares.

    Very grateful for help!

Mmmh - I can do something like this via tiled clones+Trace but not with fewer+fewer just smaller+smaller:

Being able to do this is great.

As usual, Polygon's idea is golden.

Your post mentioned wanting squares (rectangles) and a pixelated result. When I viewed your shared image, it resembles more of a "mottled" appearance to me.

I played around in Inkscape and came up with ideas, especially in using the Filters > Distort > Chalk and Sponge option. That may get you further down the road to your desired outcome.

Also, see this recent topic I put up as a source for possible exploration.

    All the best to you.
