I am laying out some text panels for a museum exhibit. The paragraphs of the text alternate between English and French (because our visitors speak one of these two languages). In order to aid the reader's eye in following the text in their preferred language, the English text is coloured white while the French text is coloured yellow. Because I need text to wrap around images, both the French and English texts are in the same text box.
The problem I am finding is that if I edit the text (in the text panel) and then click the APPLY button, all the text is reverted to a single colour (white in this case).
Is there anyway to make different colours of text "survive" editing when those different colours occur in a single text box?
Edit the text on the page by selecting with the text tool and hitting a new fill color swatch from the bottom of the Inkscape window or via Fill and Stroke panel.
Thanks. This is not my usual way of editing text (I find the text panel text editor more responsive) but it works, so I'll get used to doing things this way.

I am using Inkscape 1.2.2 in Windows.
Thanks
