My files were created in previous versions of Inkscape and don't open properly in version 1.0 Catalina. I have hundreds of files that now won't openly properly. I work in inches. Even though I've changed all of the defaults to inches in preferences and document properties I'm still having problems.

The rulers scale is in pixels-I want inches and there seems to be no way to change the ruler to inches. If I can change the ruler to inches this may solve my problem. I use a 24inch x 36 inch page with the center of sheet at x=12inches and y=18 inches (that is the default Template I've created for my files. Inkscape opens with this Template for new drawings).

Any way to change the ruler to inches?

Let's just end this topic. I don't use inscape often anymore. I'll just use an external bootable drive with Mojave OS and Inkscape 32 bit version 0.91 or 0.92 where all my old files open correctly.

I don't want to waste a lot of time using an editor or whatever. Way too much trouble.

I do have a default template that is exactly what I always use. Inkscape opens with that template. Canvas is 24in W x 36in H, x=0 and y=0 at the bottom left corner and the rulers are in inches. If I generate new drawings I can use Catalina and Inkscape 1.01.
