Using Inkscape with Other Programs Affinity Design Importer options and errors

    Hey all,

Trying to import an Affinity design file. I'm using the built in importer but getting error messages and the file does not look right. If I go Affinity to PDF to Inks-cape it works but I don't always have the PDF to go by.

Googling, it looks like the plug in was rolled into the software and the other plug in, that was not rolled in, is out of date.
Are there other options? Is the plug in designer here?

Below is the error message reported:

    1. Describe your OS (your computer's Operating System: Mac/Windows/Linux/etc. & version).
    2. Describe if Inkscape was newly installed, or upgraded from an earlier version.
    3. Describe the version of Inkscape and the installer you used (the file you downloaded from the web: .msi/.exe/.zip/appimage/other, PPA/Snap/Flatpak, dmg/other )
    4. Describe any special hardware being used, like tablet/stylus, external drives or multiple monitors.
    5. Describe any helper/assistive programs or keyboard modifiers (macros, languages, etc.).

    Bonus points, if you:

    • Attach* a screenshot of the issue.
    • Attach* an example
    • file that has the issue.

This boiler plate response is unhelpful and seems mostly irreverent since it's clearly a plug with the in issue and i already posted the errors, but I'll humor you.

Clearly the plug in does not recognize some Affinity words as shown in the info I attached.

Windows 11 Pro with the 2024 update, Inkscape 1.4, installed over 1.3 on a Dell Precision 7760
Errors were attached above. Actual file posting would require an NDA so no can do.

Again, are there any other 3rd party affinity designer plug ins out there?

If  "installed over 1.3" means Inkscape was not uninstalled before installing 1.4, you may have missed this:

    https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.4/windows/

NDAs are NBD. We support members privately under NDA when needed.

After a proper install, if there are still issues, please file a bug report on gitlab:https://inkscape.org/forums/beyond/how-to-report-bugs-or-request-new-features/

This feels really unhelpful and deflecting the issue and never answered my question about the plug in, not the app.
Fells like a  "have you rebooted the computer" blow off response. if you don't have anything to contribute no need to respond.

I mean I get what you are saying is sometimes true, but a casual glance at the error report shows the issue is not inkscape but the plug in, and that there are commands in Affinity designer the Plug in is not complete enough to recognize yet. The plug in was just added in 1.4 so it's new.  So really this is a question to the plug in designer and if the plug in is supported or the person who maintains it is here to ask questions. There is enough info posted to understand the problem and cause without a "clear your cache and cookies" blow off response.

You may often do NDAs but I really don't have the time or energy to do the NDA dance over this program at this time. The are a PITA to deal with.

Without your system and install info, we wouldn't know that you improperly installed the program.

    Have a nice day.

I never heard of an "Affinity Designer Import" option for Inkscape. Where is that from?

Tyler, with all due respect there is enough info posted to know the inkscape install is not the problem and it;s an unrecognized command problem within the plug in. My "improperly installed program" is not the issue and that info was clear from my first post.
This is why I I take issue with your requests. If you don't understand the problem and where to offer help from or have any constructive advise best to just not respond and let others comment. You don't have to respond to every topic and person. Take a chill pill dude.

Your last link is the first helpful thing you posted, a link to the person maintaining it and where to post bug reports. And what works and does not work, which is clearly explained and explains why I am having the problem I am having.

    I'll take it there.
