The Inkscape developers have decided to realign our goals for reaching a 1.0 release, by renaming the 0.49 release to 0.91.

Inkscape will be submitting a request to participate again in this year's Google Summer of Code (GSoC). GSoC is a program where students who are 18 or older (as of May 27th) spend their summer coding for an approved Open Source project and in return receive a stipend of $5000.
