Beginners' Questions Object along path - how to include the object's gradient?

    Inkscape 1.0.

When putting an object on a path via Extensions / Generate from Path / Pattern along Path, and the object had a gradient fill, I am experiencing the stroke of the object to get put on the path, but without the gradient. Is there a way to have the "whole object" with its gradient be copied onto the path also?

I have tried different things; having no fill, adding a gradient, or having a fill of gradient type, and then doing one or more of Group, Union, Combine.

    Thank you - Brian

In those cases, I'd try the scatter extension. http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Extensions-GenerateFromPath.html#Extensions-Scatter

Hi guys, this is my question. With version 0.92 if I could do this ..... but now with version 1.0.2-2 I can't. It's about how to put object on path. Being a complex object, with different shapes and colors, as shown in the video. Have the steps changed to get it ??? Thanks in advance:/

Sin embargo si fui capaz de hacerlo con la version portable  0.92.0

    I find this working, version 1.0.2-2 (e86c870879, 2021-01-15). What I did is:

    1. Created circle
    2. Set to no fill, just a stroke
    3. Created a star
    4. Set fill to a gradient
    5. Selected each and did Path / Object to Path
    6. Shift-Selected the circle, then the star, so both are selected (in that order)
    7. Went to Extensions / Generate From Path / Scatter
    8. Did Preview or Apply, it worked

However, after doing Apply I also get a pop-up and message:"Inkscape has received additional data from the script executed. The script did not return and error, but this may indicate the results will not be as expected: This extension requires two selected paths."

Unless I am missing something, since it worked, the pop-up does not make sense to me..

Can you check the image path please? It says I have to sign in to Goooogle account in first place. Why not put it here? Drag it into the reply editor window should do.

This is another of the jobs that could be done with INKSCAPE 0.92, with the tool: pattern along the path. It can be done with the new version of our favorite program ..... INKSCAPE 1.0 ????? Thanks to all from Spain.

"Pattern along Path" will work with single path objects. Extensions->Generate from Path->Scatter... will work with Groups - but my results are all haywire when I enable "Follow path orientation".
