I updated my inkscape and now the screen is so dark I have trouble seeing the icons on the tool bar.
Open the Preferences dialog [shift+ctrl+p] and navigate to [Interface > Theming]. This opens a panel of options and near the middle you should see [Change icon theme: xxxxx]. Try changing this and see if it improves icon visibility for you.
