I created a vertical image (image strip) in Inscape consisting of the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 0 (Note that the zero is purposely included twice, both at the beginning of the image and at the end of the image.)I grouped the images in Inkscape, and aligned them all vertically. The image is of dimensions 22 X 440. So each number image fits in a 22 X 40 cell. The problem I am having is that the alignment vertically is off. For illustration I drew in a red line every 40 pixles just so that you can see what I mean. So how do I get my numbers to be centered in their own 22 X 40 cell. I tried my best to use the align and distribute tool, but that is not working for me? Can someone tell me how I can align the images so that they are evenly spaced centered within the 40 pixel box? Just click on my attached image and it will display on your screen.
Edit - Are those numbers bitmap images? If so - wild guess on my part is that each image is the same size however they could have unequal padding. The top padding is different than the bottom padding. And each bitmap padding is different. Left and right padding could also be different as well. If they are indeed bitmap images with unequal padding, is it possible trace bitmap them?
When I did my export ("export selected only" Check box) in Inkscape to save the file, I specified a width of 22 and a height of 440.The width does not need to be perfect, I just would prefer the each letter fits within a 22 pixel width. So the hieght is most important, and it needs to be cenetered vertically within it's 22 X 40 cell.
The height seems to be the issue though. I am thinking that the fonts might be different sizes, plus my added drop shadow might make them different heights and widths. The big question is how do I center them?
Is it possible for me to center them manually? If I can show the grid lines on the page, I can manually place each number image within in the cell? I don't know if there is a particular way of doing that though?
Hey I don't have to have this particular font. I tried to manually move the numbers into a more centered position, but something is still off? Frustrating.
When you export either of those two methods, you have to select the cells in method 1 or the two horizontal lines in method 2. Unset the stroke on them. Select everything. Export out. You will end up with a 440 px vertical image.
Not sure if geometric or visual bounding box will effect the final vertical. I always use geometric.
Select tool [s]. In the tool control bar, set the measurement unit to [px]. Select the first zero. Set the position to [X: 80] and [Y: 50] or any other values that suit you. Select the last zero. Set the position to [X: 80] and [Y: 50+440]. Select all [ctrl+a].
Open the Align and Distribute dialog [shift+ctrl+a]. Open the [Grid] tab. [Columns: 1] [Equal height: Yes] [Alignment: Centre-Middle] [Fit into selection box: Yes] [Arrange]

Some of those number are not 22x40 px. Is that important?

Try this - two different methods. Save this image and load it in Inkscape.
