I'm trying to use Inkscape to replicate what I can do in PowerPoint.  Namely, create paragraphs of text with bullets and sub-bullets.  Bullets are giving me a very hard time.  I can insert a single bullet-like character (e.g. a filled circle ASCII character) but this doesn't do indenting of all the text to the right of the bullet character.  It simply re-aligns text below the bullet character without an automatic indent.  The same is true of sub-bullet items.

Is there a way to do bullets properly?

A simple idea that may require a little hit of prep work, but can used over and over again.

1 - Get/import a list of all intended characters to be used for bullet points. Below is a possible list.

2 - Use Trace Bitmap within Inkscape, or create them from scratch within Inkscape.

3 - Create your text(s). Be sure to convert them paths.

4 - Using guidelines, line up your converted texts. Then using the needed bullet points, and your additional guideline(s), duplicate the needed bullet point symbols and snap them into vertical alignment.

5 - Save the file with the re-useable bullet points and repeat as needed.

None of this should take much time or effort.

    My 2 cents.

Note: on the link shared above, scroll down the main body of the page, in order to see other listings of key symbols, such as check marks, hearts, etc.

    Here's another idea.

Use MS-Word or LibreOffice to create the bullet list.  Select/Format to taste.  Then select the entire list and copy to the clipboard.

Then in Inkscape, select the text tool and click somewhere on your canvas.  Ctrl-V to paste into the text element.  This should create blocks of text with bullets.  You can then select alternate text fonts, change colors, and possibly more.   Group the whole thing.  Then you can scale it and fiddle about in more ways.  For me, LibreOffice provides the best results.

I've attached an SVG full of bullet points created as described.
