I have created an image that I want to transfer to my cutter - the image consists of a number of objects - it looks perfect in Inkscape but when I import the svg file into SignMaster software all the objects move around. Is there a hidden position reference that isnt visible that would cause this?
I have tried grouping the objects but this makes no difference, they just all jumble up.
Any ideas please? Hope you can help
Im on Windows and teh Inkscape version is - 1.0.2-2 (e86c870879, 2021-01-15)
Perhaps is your issue related to the viewbox of svg file : do you have the same issue in a browser ?
You can open document properties (ctrl+ shift + D) and expand the viewbox to see its coordinates in user units, or use xml editor (ctle + shift + X) and click on the first line to see the values of viewbox attribute.
Wow - Tyler that is so close - just one piece that seems to move now! - I tried 'Clean up document on the svg file you sent but still doesnt sort it? Any suggestions?
I also tried the technique on the other file that I had that wasnt transferring properly either and that's sorted it perfectly - thank you for that tip.
Ah - just seen another of your posts that explains about defs! I will try the File>Clean up document and see if I can do it. Thank you! I've learnt something I didnt know - I did delete a number of other parts from this file that are the other colours and I suspect it was those 'defs' that are causing the issue?
More likely that the ungrouping is the effective operation. The signmaster software may not accept "transforms" (inline position info) and might only accept path coordinates.
Please indicate which objects still move in the document I modified, and I'll look for more clues.
Hi @TylerDurden - its the objects in red that seem to be moving - all the others seem OK. Be great if you could figure what I'm doing wrong. To get that shape i just used the one above it , duplicated it and flipped it left-right - maybe its still linked somehow? What are "transforms"? Thanks again for everyones help.
Hi @David248 and @TylerDurden - the Combine paths ahs done it! Success it seems. How did you see that paths has 99.5% opacity (whatever that means!) - where can I check that for future reference? I've learned two new things now!
The lower left corner of the screen show the fill, stroke and opacity of the selection. The entire bottom of the screen has information and guidance on tools and selected objects.
I saw the opacity differences on objects panel (ctrl + shift + L) : In inkscape 1.3, if an object hasn't a 100 % opacity, a greyed square icon is displayed next to its name. If you click on that icon, you can see the opacity settings. This quickly informed me that half of the paths have a 99,5% opacity (that was unnoticeable on canvas).
Remember that when combining paths, the result gets the fill, stroke opacity settings of the lowest path.
If you need to keep this opacity settings, you can select one path with 100% opacity, right clic > select same > fill and stroke and do path > combine and repeat with a 99,5% opacity path.
Thank you @David248 and @TylerDurden for your help - by trying all the above solutions its working well! That was so useful - all those tips. I have learnt a lot of new things I didn't know before - amazing group of experts!

Feel free to share the svg file for examination.
Hi @David248 - thanks for the reply - Ive added the file to the post - keen to see if you can spot the error I seem to have made!
I've ungrouped everything and cleaned the unused defs. See if this file makes any difference.

There are two kinds of paths : some with 100 % opacity, some with 99,5 % : any reason ?
You could try to select all and do path > combine.
