I have been adding Clipart to a sign project to be used on a plasma cutter. I have been able to combine and union everything until I tried to use the drawing tool for a random shape to help hold the bottom in and it will not allow me to combine and union that correctly to the rest of the project!! Help!

If you just add a stroke then you need to convert first with Path->Stroke to Path to make it a shape you can Path->Union then.
