**Obligatory first time poster warning - I did try to search for my issue and came up empty handed (though I admit this surprised me). I think I'm in the right spot, but I'm happy to be redirected.**
I'm having a challenge with files I've created in Inkscape that I don't think is a basic use issue.
I'm using MacBook Pro (2019), macOS Big Sur v11.7, with no other devices, Inkskape 1.2.1.
My problem: Some text, though displayed on my screen, is not printing neither when printing to paper or to .pdf. What's odd to me is that it isn't all text. It is mostly one font that isn't appearing - it's most of one font and some of another. And even only part of one text field - it prints the numbers but not the letters after in one spot.
I ran into this problem once before in a small way, and just stacked a bunch of copies of the text on top of each other in the same spot and eventually I got everything to show on print, but there has got to be another way.
Also the .pdf prints upside down for whatever reason, but that's easy to work with. Just odd.
Is there something I'm doing/not doing that is causing this? Is this a bug? It feels buggy, I do admit.
Screen shots and files attached. This is a custom D&D character sheet for my dad. I'm an amateur Inkscaper who could probably do a lot of things in a smarter way. Please be nice!
The document states it was made with 1.0.1, so there may be some cross-version issues.
Then, I'd use your Mac's file manager to make a copy of the document, and open that in Inkscape.
Then I'd clean the document (File>Clean...) to get rid of a thousand unused defs, then save the document.
I can't test much more without the fonts... I probably have Copperplate, but could use the Kefa font. If you can attach the font in a zip file, that would be helpful.
@bleke - I just tried this, and unfortunately the text still did not make the jump. It was right side up though!
@TylerDurden - I followed your steps as described, but the issue persists. You raise an interesting point though - I did add some fonts at some point, and that could be part of the problem. Here's a .tff of one font I was using. Not sure where the files for the other two are at the moment, but if you want to play with this one... enjoy?
I did, however, find a passable solution for the moment: I took a screen cap (without the grids), opened it in a different program, and printed from there. Perhaps a little silly, and not ideal, but it got the job done.
Thank you both for your help! I would still like to figure this out, but there is no urgency or anything.
There does seem to be a bug in the text. I've traced it to a zero opacity setting that doesn't get recognized by Inkscape, but it does by browsers and the pdf engine.
Attached is a copy of the svg with some fixes and the resulting pdf. My copperplate seems to be larger, but there are a lot of grey-market versions around.
@TylerDurden - Wow, thank you so much! Is there any way I can mitigate the problem in the future? Make new next objects instead of copy/pasting them or something? Find more reputable sources for my fonts maybe?
In this case, the copy paste was done on a text object that had the issue. If I were doing more of this work, I'd test the "original" by saving the svg and opening it in a browser to confirm the bug is not there, before copy/paste numerous times.
I will file a bug report - Inkscape should be WYSIWYG for all these types of processes... showing objects that will not show outside of Inkscape is not helpful.
Greetings folks,

What happens if you save as PDF instead of printing to PDF?
Inkscape is unfortunately not very good at printing. I always save as PDF and print from other programs such as Acrobat Reader.
Something fishy about the text for sure. Before proceeding further, I'd open Inkscape (but not the document), then reset the preferences. https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/getting-back-to-square-one-and-starting-over-its-easy/

Yeah, best to get it delivered and worry about best practices later.
I did get the fonts and there is something amiss in the document... testing a document with just the text seems ok.
