    In Inkscape 1.4:

    If I have a ten page document I can select a similar element on all ten pages and vertically align them with the align toolbox.

    Is it possible to horizontally align as well?

    How can I get all the elements in the exact same position on their respective pages?

    Select the shapes that you want to duplicate.
    [Edit > Clone > Create Clone]
    [Object > Group]
    [Edit > Cut]
    Select a shape on the target page (to activate the page).
    [Edit > Paste...] [Paste on Page]
    Select a shape on the next target page.
    [Edit > Paste...] [Paste on Page]

    Changes to the original shapes will be reproduced on every page.

    [double-click] a group to enter it.
    Select a shape that you want to adjust individually.
    [Edit > Clone > Unlink Clone]
