I am trying to figure out a way to create line with the bezier tool where it has both triangle in and out. Is there a way to add two power stroke path effects to accomplish this? Or will i just need to make two paths and then stroke to path plus a union?
With the powerstroke, you can add and remove control nodes, as needed. So I've found that often, rather than taking the time to create a custom object to use with From Clipboard, I can just add extra control nodes to just the regular Triangle In or Out.
Position your mouse over a pink node, then Ctrl + click. The new one is right on top of the original. So just drag it away and put it wherever you need it. If you need to delete a pink node, position the mouse over it and do Ctrl + Alt + click.
I wrote a tutorial for this, if you're interested. Well actually, it's for converting a raster cartoon image to vector. But within it, it tells how to use Powerstroke. It's for complete newbies, so you might have to be a little patient with it (since I think you're more of an intermediate level with Inkscape). https://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=49 (be sure to save your own copy, if you want to, since that website will be closed in a month or so - I'm not sure where it will be after that)
@brynn that was precisely the tidbit I was looking for. This is PERFECT. I will be able to accomplish what I am doing much more quickly now! Thank you. :) When I finish the final product I will have to share it with everyone in the gallery. :) Something to honor Ram Dass.

What about using the 'Shape from clipboard' option with a square that was rotated by 45° or a similar shape in the clipboard?
