Using Inkscape with Cutters/Plotters Why is my sizing so off?

Usually if I make a shape in IS & upload to Cricut Design Space, it's the same size I saved it in but sometimes it saves HUGE. What step am I missing? The latest is supposed to be 3.25 inches x 6.25 inches. It opens in DS at 9.214 x 17.72. Is there an easy layman's solution?

You may not be missing any step at all. Design Space has been giving both Inkscape & Adobe Illustrator users big headaches when it comes to sizing on uploads. Earlier this year, the document page had to be resized to content before saving. An update or two after that they changed it so resizing created a sizing error. Now its a big question as to how Design Space is going to size your file.
The document properties should have the scale set up to 72 user units per inch for Design Space.
Whether DS will upload at the correct size is not reliable. Therefore, I create a 12x12 square that I put behind my design before I save it. After uploading to DS, I make sure to resize the design to that 12x12 square as needed, then ungroup & delete the square.

I made a small extension to add this calibration frame effectively. I use it when saving as DXF. The 12x12 in square is one of the options. Read about the extension here
