Hi. I am wanting to learn more about the "Set Clip Group" option in the Objects Panel.  (Formerly called "Create Clip Groups".)

I know this feature is distinctly different that clipping and masking.

    Quoted by Moini:

"Create Clip Group from context menu groups the selected objects and clips that group with a clone of itself. This allows for quick creation of, for example, inset shadows."

I find very little written information and video material covering this "Set Clip Group".

I have watched this video by Adam Belis:

Still, I still would like to know where there is additional documentation, tutorial(s), and videos which explain this feature in detail.

And hopefully show some various uses for this feature.

Also, in researching this feature, I have also read that one may need to set the "Behavior of Clones" to "Stay Unmoved" in the Preferences file when using this feature. Is this true? Needed? What is gained by doing this?

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and resources in helping me.

Clip group is a very efficient way to put objects inside of shapes (and groups of shapes).

    Here are some crude examples:

Thank you, Tyler, for providing these helpful gifs.

A mistake I was making was not clicking the click group twice before trying to paste the other objects inside of it.

So, here are steps I find that work. Please tell me if I am missing anything. Or if there are better or alternate steps.

1 - Select object(s) you want to set as a clip group.

2 - Right mouse click and choose "Set Clip Group".

3 - Click outside that clip group and select the object(s) that you want placed inside the clip group.

4 - Press Ctrl and X to copy these into memory and remove visibly from the screen.

5 - Click twice onto your previously set clip group.

Press Ctrl and V to paste the needed object(s) inside it.

These pasted objects can be moved, resized, rotated, and altered in fill and stroke color.

Yes, that is the process shown in my examples.

Additionally, a double click outside the clip group will exit the group and allow the group and its contents to be translated/transformed in unison.
