Hi, I have two objects which I would like to be filled with the same pattern but have different colors, however when I color one object the other pattern changes to that same color. Does anyone know a workaround to this? Thanks.
Quick answer : They share the same pattern : copy one of them and paste it (don't duplicate) : this will create for the copy a new instance of the pattern.

In fill and stroke panel, when you have already assigned a pattern to an object, inkscape lists the patterns used in the document abdove the default ones.
If you select another object and click on one theses already existing (in document) pattern, at least two objects will share this pattern in your document, if you modify the color of this pattern, you'll modify all objects where this pattern is used.
To assign a pattern with another color, select another default one (in red in my screenshot) and give it another color.
If it was a custom pattern you've just created (that does not displays in inkscape default patterns, use the copy-paste method.
