The file was created with Inkscape, I'm a new user so I'm not sure what's going wrong.
When I try to save an SVG with text and reopen the file, it just smashes multiple lines of text on top of itself or moves to a different location. This happens when I save, close the file, and reopen it. If I want to keep all the work I've done, I need to leave the file open or export as PDF. It's like the display is not matching up with what is actually saved in the SVG file. It loses the color when I try to upload the SVG file to Google Drive.
Also, I set font "Genome" with a specific size as default. Except it does not save as default, and if I try to start a new text box or copy-paste from an external source, it will sometimes turn into a completely different font.
I am clicking Apply after changing settings and then saving.
It sounds like the file was saved as a pdf and re-edited. It is generally recommended to always save the working file as Inkscape SVG and save a copy as the print master (pdf).
When text is imported from pdf it can get mangled, so I usually use Text>Remove manual kerns to get back on track.
I'm a bit late, but maybe this will help someone else who stumbles across this post:
I have a similar issue with font colors changing in formatted text (bold, italic etc.) and I think I found the problem. I went to Preferences -> Tools -> Text and checked Show font substitution warning dialog. Now when I reopen the saved file, a dialog box pops up and says:
Font 'Arial Bold' substituted with 'Noto Sans' Font 'Arial Italic' substituted with 'Noto Sans'
So whatever Inkscape does to make Arial look bold or italic while I'm editing the file doesn't get saved. The next time I open the file, Inkscape looks for the "real" bold and italic fonts and doesn't find them, so it substitutes them. I guess the different color means "notice me!".
In your case it might be something else, but you could still try enabling the warning dialog (and any other warnings you can find). Maybe that will give you some clues.

Apologies if I didn't include the right info, I'm not very tech savvy.
First thing I´d test is to go Preferences->System->Reset Preferences, restart Inkscape and try again.
