When I make my name the way I want on the Inkscape page it looks fine; but when I print it out it all the letters have a shadow. (The fill is separating from the stoke line). Is it because I moved the letters to touch each other and if so, how can I delete the shadow without moving the letters apart?
In the earlier versions on Inkscape this was not a problem. I am now using version 1.4.2 on my Mac computer.
When I posted the scan I cannot see the separation of the fill from the stroke-but it is there.
I hope the scanned version is the same as what I am looking at.
I solved my own problem. I just deleted the Stoke Line and alas-no more shadow.
New question: Is there a way to elongate letters in a font name without also increasing the width. I want to actor some letters to b=the base which would make them shorter than the other letters. Therefore, I want to make the taller without increasing the width.
Now I want to elongate certain letters in a name. (For example: Maker the L in Lauren 4-1/2 inches in height from the original 4 inches, without making it wider at the same time or affecting any of the other letters in the name. Since I am a novice at Inkscape I am not sure if the program has that capability.
I am answering my own question; I figured out how to elongate a letter or letters in a word/name. While in the Text Tool, I highlighted the letter I wanted to elongate, then went to the top of the window and cocked on "Font Size" and put in my own number (from 5.35 to 6.299)-I am working in inches- worked out great for me.

Is this what you mean?
I duplicated the text, scaled vertically, and applied transparent text fill to the unwanted parts.
That was a good solution, thank you.

Thanks again for your help.

You realise, of course, that increasing font size makes your text taller and wider.
I did not notice it getting that much wider but I suppose it would have to. Thanks.
