Designers regularly use svg symbols in garden and landscape plans. They can be created in the design document, or kept in a separate library document.
Symbols are clones of a svg object (or group) that can be used repeatedly without adding much to the file size, and the parent object can be updated to globally update all of its copies.

Thats great I shall make use of these they look great.
I also need to plot accurately the route of irrigation pipes so that is why I need a scaled view of the plot. Is there a way of making a 5.25 x 14.8 meter rectangle scaled to fit on a A4 or A3 sheet of paper?
I'm designing a small garden 5.25 metres x 14.8 metres.
I'd like a template for this and to be able to zoom in onto the items in the design
Whats the best way of doing this as the final design will be scaled to either A4 or A3 paper size.

Thanks

I would design at 1:10 scale. Vector objects will scale cleanly to whatever size you like when you are ready to print from pdf.
