I have the area in mind for an irregularย path, and was wondering if it is possible to set its size by area instead of height and width

Not sure - donยดt get the picture. Is it perhaps about filling an irregular shape to its max size in a given area like here with an ellipse in a square?

You could use the Extensions > Visualize paths > Measure path to know the area of an irregular path and optionaly know it's center of mass.

You could then make trial and error to approximate :

    • Tick "Live preview" to see the area,
    • then untick and press alt-tab to switch to canvas, resize
    • then alt-tab again to switch to the extension window and enable agin live preview..

Not a really easy way to do...

Another thing exists in the Universe.

Note - this is a geometric tool. It will set path size based on given area, but ignores stroke width / filters etc.

A workaround would be to do the sizing with a zero stroke path, then Edit>Paste>Paste sizeย  possibly
