I can't get Inkscape 1.3 to utilize the pressure sensitive stylus with my Huion Kamvas Pro 16 tablet. I'm running on Windows 10 Pro. I've gone into the Device Manager of Inkscape and selected the Huion tablet and checked Use Pressure Sensitive Stylus. I've tried with and without Windows Ink checked. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem with XP-Pen tablet. The only inkscape that the pressure ever worked in was Inkscape version  0.91. After that version the tablet doesn't even show up in the input device window. I have tried many different versions of the driver and all the options, such as "windows ink" etc.

I have not been able to get this addressed from the tablet manufacturer, or answered here on the inskape fourm. Otherwise I really like inskscape and have been using it regularly for maybe two years. I just wish I could get the pressure to work.

Hello, I'm a new user to Inkscape and had a bit of a problem getting it to work. My environment is a MacPro running macOS v10.12.6 and Inkscape 1.0.0. Using a Wacom tablet (Intuos BT M) I managed to get "pressure input" to work. The device does not show up in the "input devices" but I selected anyway mode "Window". After a restart of Inkscape, using the freehand pen and setting the setting to "zero width"  (see screenshot) the line drawn, reflected the pressure applied to the Wacom stylus.  Well, I get the impression that it seems to work ;-)

    cheers

    Hi @zaphod,

Inkscape 1.0.0 and Inkscape 1.3 and 1.4 are quite different. So I am not sure that comparing notes between such different versions can help come up with solutions. However I do have a question based on what you wrote.

What is the mode "Window" that you mentioned? I don't remember it right now. Is this part of Inkspace, or is part of the Wacom tablet driver?

Also, the CAPS > ZEROWIDTH is giving you the impression/illusion that pressure might be working, when in reality it is not. Can you change the CAPS to SQUARE mode and see if you can still see any change in THICKNESS when PRESSURE is enabled? I just tried it and I can see that with SQUARE MODE enabled, the illusion of pressure is no longer present. I think that you are confusing the the PRESSURE and the ZERO THICKNESS. And it is understandable. I had to double check myself.

What is interesting is that you are using a Wacom (instead of a lesser industry standard tablet like my XP PEN) and you are still not getting any pressure in Inkscape. From the various posts that I have read, I was under the impression that the Inkscape users with Wacom tablets has better luck with the Pressure working. Apparently Inkscape with Wacom is as much a Russian Roulette as it is with other lesser known Tablets.

Thank you for your reply! Hopefully it will attract some attention from others users who know more than me.

    PS.

Like I said in my original post, I am only able to get REAL pressure to work (and the Tablet to show up in the input device window) in Inkscape version  0.91. Do you want to try version  0.91?
    https://inkscape.org/release/0.91/
If it works for you in Calligraphy mode, I think it will become clear to both of us if you have REAL pressure in Inkscape with your industry standard Wacom Tablet.
Also I should mention that I am on Windows, where you are on a Mac. So that is one more difference between our working environments.

    Thank you.

    Hi @Copy Pasta,

    Thank you for your reply!

    1. The mode "Window" is is seen when you select "Inkscape -> Input Devices" on macOS. See screen shot Inkscape1.0a.svg

    2. Tried what you suggested and I admit that I have the impression that pressure is applied. See attachment drawingpressure.svg.

    3. With respect to the Wacom tablet: I'm using it for the first time this week on the MacPro as I postponed an upgrade. The tablet software (6.3.30-2) could not be installed on macOS 10.10 (Yosemite). Hence I upgraded to 10.12.6 (Sierra) to get it working. Yes, I know, old stuff but the MacPro ( the black cylinder) is so horribly fast and stable that I can't part from it... ;-)

    4. v0.91 is what I installed first but it seems to use a horrible X11 server ( XQuartz) on mac and it was quite unusable: most of the menu's and part of the icons are pixelised and unreadable. So, sorry, but I can't use it to test the pen pressure

    cheers
