Hello, I would be grateful if  anyone can assist with installing Inkscape on an iMac. I followed all of the instructions to install XQuartz etc. it appears to be an issue with 32bit and 64bit as it does not direct me to the location of X11 at No4 on the instructions. Cheers, G

Why not taking native 1.0 version instead?

If you really want XQuartz/Inkscape0.92 you need to restart you iMac after the XQuartz instalment.

    HI Kineddar,
I think XQuartz is 32 bits and as of MacOS Catalina 32 bits software is not accepted any more. Too bad, Apple!
For me that is a reason not to update my MacBook and still use High Sierra.

Now you have no choice but to use Inkscape 1.0, which is not yet very stable.

@PixelPest , do you perhaps know a hack to make XQuartz work on Catalina? I read somewhere that you are very much an MacOS user.

XQuartz is 64bit. I´m still on HighSierra to because of my 2011 iMac. I ´m used to a native devel Inkscape version that suv once complied in 2015 - pretty rocksolid and feature complete except some bugs that never got fixed. And yes I´m on Mac since 1987.

    Hi Pixelpest,
Thank you for explaining. So I am wrong about the XQuartz 32 bit.
I cannot remember where I got that information that XQuartz+Inkscape 0.92.2 do not work on Catalina.
Perhaps it is possible to install Xquartz + Inkscape 0.92.2 on Catalina? That would help many Mac users, I think.

Now I too want to know!

** offtopic** ...1987.. That is when I first started to play games on a very old computer...

I guess I mixed up with annual figures. We started with Amiga2000 in 1987 and we´re jumping on the Apple desktop publishing bandwagon in 1989 to be correct. ;-) Playing on the Amiga was awesome...............
