I don't know why it's problem about creating the dimension.
the location between the object ( rectangle ) and dimension is not same place.

- System info : Win10 64bit
- please, refer to attaced file named " extension settings.png "
- please, refer to attaced file named " dimension_error.svg"
Looks like the extension has a few bugs.
I would try the better dimensioning extension found here: https://github.com/Rutzmoser/inkscape_dimensioning, shown in use here: https://youtu.be/yInlDGxhfyM?t=813.
This extension is also included in an exceptional collection of extensions: https://github.com/vmario89/mightyscape-1.X
Looks like Inkscape 1.1.1 has a few bugs.
I would try a better version found here:https://inkscape.org/release/1.0.2/platforms/
