This extension produces a laser cut layout of various box types:
- a closed box with a hinged top
- just an open box without a top
- a shelfed box
To use it, just download the zip File, and put the contents into the inkscape / share / extensions file.
After restart of inkscape you should now find in the extensions / render menu the option "Box Maker" that opens another form for input of parameters.

This is just to let you know that most 3rd party Inkscape extensions, like this one, probably will not work with the upcoming new Inkscape version, the long-awaited version 1.0.
Here is the info you need to update this extension, so that it will work with 1.0 and future versions.

Is there any chance you could add a kerf option? The other box maker has that and it is very useful. Your box maker has some great ideas of building the lid etc I have done manually in the past..

Good idea, our laser cutters are very precise, so I didn't have a need for such an option.
However we have a strict corona quarantine now in tyrolia, so I might find the time to add such an option (and prove the compatibility with inkscape 1.0)

Does this extension still work with Inkscape 1.2? I don't have an "extensions" folder under "C:\Program Files\Inkscape\share". Instead, I found one here: "C:\Program Files\Inkscape\share\inkscape\extensions". I unzipped the file into that folder and launched Inkscape. I see "Extensions -> Render -> Box Maker" in Inkscape, but nothing happens when I select it. Nothing at all. Other extensions, including other laser box extensions open fine. I also tried putting this extension into %appdata%\inkscape\extensions. Same thing happened - nothing.
Any clues? I really like the idea of hinged boxes and would like to build some. Thanks!

Yes, it still works with V 1.2.
Unfortunately I had not the time to put it into the official extensions galery again.
They now require some test cases, which I had not yet time to provide.
