20 years of Inkscape is not the end of the journey but a huge milestone. The new version is built on the foundations of the previous versions and is becoming better with each iteration. It's a shining example of what is possible in open source software when a great team of dedicated developers gets together and works their magic. I tried to showcase what can be done in Inkscape with simple shapes and without fancy drawing skills. Using only a limited set of tools to create a consistent yet rich look. The piece relies heavily on gradients, tapered and power stroke path effects on simple lines and basic shapes [circles and rectangles were the starting point for most elements]. Organizing a design of this complexity was key. The improved layers and objects panel was a huge help in keeping the 2500+ objects that make this scene under control. I don't speak English. This is my favorite program for drawing vector graphics. Thanks to all the developers) you are the best guys.
Creative Growth - 20 years of Inkscape Enabling creatives to grow their imagination, go wild, and be creative. I played around a lot with layer blend modes, path effects [taper and powerstroke], blurs, the spiro effects on the pen tool, clones, and Boolean operations. What started as a quick test [while stuck on another idea] grew wild and I went a bit overboard... but it's just too much fun to work in Inkscape. Hello I'm Milad Moosavi and I'm happy that I can participate in this version contest. I do a lot of sketches about the idea of looking back at 20 years of inkscape and finally came up with the idea of time travel. these two characters in my work use a portal to go back in time when the first version of inkscape is about to be released. I wanted to convey the idea that Inkscape has come a long way in the past 20 years, and that we should be proud of what we have achieved. Through hard work and dedication, now we have a tool for artists and designers that is capable of creating stunning works of art. Looking back at where we started, it's amazing to see how far we have come. If you like to see my works you can find me on my website: miladmusav.com or on instagram or twitter with @miladmusav I hope you enjoy my submission and thank you for the opportunity to participate in this contest.
For this version, Let's try anything ! I opted for a monochrom steampunk music theme. Need color ? Sure ! There it is : https://inkscape.org/~m1981/%E2%98%85inkscape-rocks-colors You can see a larger version here : https://www.deviantart.com/m-1981/art/Inkscape-rocks-mono-954258162
Here's grandma and her little grandchild, 'creating together' in Inkscape 1.3. This artwork was inspired by Inkscape's ease of use and accessibility, which this open-source software gives to its users. It also tries to illustrate the limitlessness by which Inkscape has become a great tool in graphics, even for this 15-year-old me! The new shape builder tool has made far easier and quicker boolean operations. Hearty congratulations to the Inkscape developers and contributors who 'created together' this feat of 20 years, enabling us to draw freely! It's 2023, and we have been witnessing many important milestones in Artificial Intelligence and Generative Art. With many tools like ChatGPT and DALLE-2 out in the market, its mainstream for artists to get confused and doubtful. An artwork is like a puzzle. Often we feel that we are missing one finishing touch to our artwork. This picture tries to put forth the synergy in creativity, where technology meets human creativity, trying to put the missing piece of the puzzle, creating new art styles and working together brainstorming ideas. Inkscape continues to remain an exceptional tool for developers, artists, and AIs alike, enabling them to create new art styles, redesign interfaces, and automate design. 20 years is a milestone. We are rooting for you, Inkscape! Fonts used: Fira Code, https://github.com/tonsky/FiraCode. "1.3" at the bottom center is not a font face.

Finally, after several times in which I thought about participating and didn't do it, the time has come, and, winning hours of sleep, here I present my design proposal. As you can see, it's a kind of analogue version of the Inkscape user interface and, in what would be a "page" of the program, I made a design that joins the anniversary of the program and the new "Shape Builder Tool" of this version. Just in case it's not quite "legal", I clarify that, after deciding what I wanted to do (and to help me with perspective, shadows and proportions) I did a first stage of "blocking", modelling the objects of the design in Blender, without materials, and distributing them in a scene. Then I imported the image from Inkscape and used it as a base to make the illustration. The font for the text "SINCE 2003" and the font for my name (which I placed in the lower left corner) is "Miedinger Bold" (downloaded from https://fontlibrary.org/en/font/miedinger#Miedinger*-Bold). The text "20 years" is not a real typeface. It has been very tiring, but very entertaining, the whole process and I'm glad I decided to send a proposal.
I make this artwork to celebrate 20 years of Inkscape. The free software for a community of artists, illustrators, and designers. The message behind this artwork is don't let the trends and algorithms dictate what the future of your creativity is, keep focused and learn more to develop your skills and imagination. The people of Martian City would like to celebrate Inkscape's 20th anniversary. To do so, they took the city into space for a celebration! But not too far... Some of the buildings have international morse code on them :3 and if you look closely at the darker parts of space, you will se a robot hanging around. Also the font I used is one called "Roboto" which can be found in the link below. https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Roboto Inkscape has gone far, far into deep space. Let's see where else it will go.

My artwork is about the constantly evolving world we're in and how quickly technology for artists have evolved. Digital, physical and mental all working together organically combined. The girl is the artistic influence of the creative heart and soul of the artist inside the digital canvas where she is building a beautiful landscape and attracts the next 1.3 version of Inkscape evolution to enhance the digital landscape and to break down limits so the artists can fully express themselves. This snake is an "Asp viper", i found this one in a forest in France. Despite the relatively big size on the photo, this one was really small (like 2 cm diameter, 20cm long) I made some tests on my photos and i found this one gave interesting effects when vectorized. It has sadly no real link to the 20 years ^^ so i suggested the 20 with the round shapes ... not sure it's really visible :D Happy birssssday.

The Great Outdoors, is a scene created to accentuate nature by including a forest, a mountain (inkscape logo) into glacier run out/a river. The entire scene is mock painted, as a overlayed paint brush hints at an artists painting the entire scene. Made with love for the Inkscape community <3, enjoy.
Long ago, a man was walking through the mountains when suddenly, a star fell from the sky. It was bent, frail and lacking shine. It also looked different from the other stars. Unfortunately he didn't have the time or the energies to care for the star. So, he passed it on to his friend. His friend not wanting to give up on the fallen star cared for it deeply and for a long time. Just when it seemed his efforts were useless, something unexpected happened. The star broke out, shooting high into the air and shinning miraculously in the sky. It was large and well shaped, outshining the other stars and even producing stars of it's own. What was once broken and seemingly useless, became a shining star providing glorious light in the night sky. This story was inspired by the origins of inkscape (mostly the fact that the founders are not there anymore) as well my own personal life. Inkscape over the years with all the time, love and care put into it has become big and will no doubt be a blessing to many. The font I used is "Roboto" a font which can be found in the link below: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Roboto So that's about it, hope you liked the art and the story. Tell me what you think and of course, happy 20th anniversary inkscape!

Hello, in 2021 I participated in version 1.1 with the art "Save the Amazon", I'm not an illustrator, but I love to create something when I can. And in this version 1.3 art I brought a dinosaur in the middle of some futuristic planets and buildings (attempt). The important thing is to participate and maybe a Latin American art can win, right? Thanks to all the developers/contributors/community who are always improving the software. Good luck to everyone!

The warmer colors depict a fun and relaxed setting. Basically a fusion between two otherwise contrasting elements. In this setting, the good times come crashing in!. Its an ice-cream party! Thank you for brilliant software - Happy Birthday!
