I’ve been fooling around with the new Boolean LPE in the Inkscape 1.1, trying to see how it differs from the old commands under Path. The ability to move the operator around (if operator is the correct term?) is pretty cool. However, I’m running into a problem with Division. I don’t know if it’s a lack of understanding, my peculiar computer, or a bug. I can’t drag the divided portions of the operand apart. I’ve tried Break apart, but that doesn’t work. Am I missing something? The old command under Path still works fine.
I think it's how it's supposed to work - the result is a single object, not multiple (at the moment). If you'd like to make a feature request, visit https://inkscape.org/report .
There´s a neat little trick to divide lots of overlapping shapes into fractured parts by first combining them adding a rectangle to it and call Path-Division then.
Looks useful, Polygon, but I just can't seem to imitate the results, even though I slowed the video down. And what is the tool that produces that red line?
Thanks, Maren. I guess I don't get why one would divide something and leave the pieces in place. But then, I'm not interested in color, so maybe that's it. Thank goodness the old Division is still available.
That is selecting with alt-key: hold alt-key down, then draw a line over parts you want to select - release alt-key - there you have it. That´s not new.
