I have a simple question: is there a way to make a path with a variable width? I tried using power stroke and tapered lines, but neither work if the path is closed.
One way to make a variable-width "stroke" on a closed path, is to use Path>Stroke to Path. This will make a path object with no stroke and nodes can be added to manipulate the shape.
@PixelPest Whenever I try it, the whole path changes width uniformly. How did you achieve the result in your image (I have the same power stroke setting as you)? I also only have a single handle, and you got three.

Thanks.

Powerstroke works on closed paths:
@TylerDurden Thanks! This works pretty well.

Check the status bar for any hints available for this path effect while the node-tool is active.
Not sure what I'm missing.
