I have used Inkscape in the past, but it has a new look and I'm having difficulties since they updated.  Use to when I would trace bitmap the update pic looked the same as the uploaded pic and then I took out layers according to what I needed.  Does anyone know why the gray isn't showing up on the trojan?   

Increase to 3 colors - 1 extra for the background color - even when "Remove Background" is enabled - and you get what you want.

I'm pretty sure it is set on 8 colors to start with and the gray isn't showing up.  Unless I'm looking at it incorrectly.

That´s strange - as I tested with a set-up like yours. And it worked as I mentioned. Can you provide the raster image file?
