Beginners' Questions S O L V E D • Creating SVG with a folded paper

    Hi, ALL,

I'd like to make an SVG that will contain a sheet of paper.

That sheet of paper will have top left corner folded.

Now it is easy to create a rectangle, but then  - how do I cut of one of the corners?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    Thank you for that.

How can I get rid of the legs? After I made a cut-off with hypotenuse.

    Thank you.

You can start with a "corner" rectangle only. Delete one corner point - select all nodes to change them to corner nodes - adjust curvature:

    Hi,

So this is what I' looking for:

Create a rectangle, like in your first clip.

Click on the selection tool and place 2 dots  one on the top border and one on the right border.

    Drag the rectangle corner in

Connect the folding with the line.

Up to this point everything is as in the first clip you posted.

But then I need to get rid of the black lines that is inside the paper. Meaning I need a plain white paper folded on the corner.

Nothing should be on it. Just a borderlines.

    Sorry for the miscommunication.

    Thank you.

    Ah - now I got it - I guess. ;-)

Generate a ruler and start drawing with Bézier tool while holding shift key down:

    Hi,

    Yes, now you did. ;-)

However here is probably a complete and full explanation (I probably shuold have started with - but better late than never).

I am trying to create 16x16 transparent image with a white paper folded as such.

I made a template of an 16x16 transparent icon and I will try to make that image on it. Right now I have an emulation of such image that is a collection of various path and I was told that I should make a rectangle with the folded corner.

Here is the link to my original question on SO: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/159781/colorize-inside-an-image-in-insscape-svg?noredirect=1#comment241662_159781

    Thank you.

Solved or not. I can´t tell.

    Hi,

Yes, that's the icon I'm looking for.

However, I need the paper to be white. Right now the whole image is transparent. So when I drop it into my program I can see the background through the paper.

I don't want that - I want the paper to be white, but background should stay transparent. Meaning - I shouldn't be able to see through the image (paper).

Can you help me do that?

    Thank you.

This is how it looks like:

And I need the outside to be transparent but inside to be white.

    Hi,

Please see the attached image. That's what I will probably end up doing.

    Now one last question:

How do I reduce the size of the line that represents the "magnifying glass handle?

Trying to Google I see only changing the Stroke/width of the line...

    Thank you.

This icon can only work as SVG - not a bitmap because you´re having strokes under 1px width - and not aligned to the pixel grid.

    Hi,

Yes, this is the intention. I'm about to convert all my graphics to SVG.

But this particular one has a bug - "the handle of the magnifying glass" is too big. It shouldn't go inside the circle (the glass).

    How can I fix it?

    Thank you.

With the Node tool grab the upper left node and drag to to circle.

    Hi,

Thank you. I will do that.

Now - how do I mark the thread as "solved"?

    Hi,

    I'd lie to re-open this - sorry

So in order to decrease the size of the handle of the magnifying glass I did the following:

In that document open I selected the "Node" tool (2 button from the top on the leftmost toolbar).

Then zoom in, click the top of the handle and start moving it.

That process either moved the whole handle down, or if I didn't select the handle first it just plays with the paper border.

But I don't want to move the handle - I want to shrink the size of it.

    Thank you

I really don´t get where you stuck; you can resize with Select- or shorten with the Node-tool and adjust stroke width accordingly: For proportional transforming hold ctrl-key down resp. ctrl+alt with Node-tool to maintain direction.

    Hi,

OK, trying to resize the handle it just jumps up/down. Meaning the line move is not smooth like in your clip. It is either below the circle or in the circle - it doesn't stop in between.

As if my grid have too big of the value for the cell.

    Thank you.

Maybe it jumps as it tries to snap to certain features;  disable snapping for a moment at the top right corner.

    Hi,

    Polygon

disable snapping for a moment at the top right corner

    Where? What button is it?

How many buttons have you at the upper right corner?
