Beginners' Questions Bottom of Layers Dialogue incomplete

    Hi,

    I am using Inkscape 1.2.1.

I was trying to reduce the opacity of a reference photo on a layer but couldn't figure out how. Google came back with the answer "To change the opacity of a layer, move the opacity slider in the Layers dialog to the right or left."

The only problem is - there doesn't appear to be an opacity slider or any of the other buttons that are supposed to be at the bottom of my Layers dialog. I made sure to update to the latest version of Inkscape, opened a new file, I even pulled the dialogue into the centre of the screen as shown, in case it was being cut off by the bottom of my screen for some reason. Nothing. I have looked through all the Window, Views, Settings, etc and I can't get anything to appear at the bottom of the Layers Dialogue panel.

    What am I doing wrong?
