This must be the most annoying bug or i am missing something. Each time i copy and paste, duplicating a creation in inkscape it automatically combine/group it to other objects already on the page. I make 100% sure before i paste the copy object that nothing is selected on paste so it must be new object.. This also happen if i copy and paste a object from different inkscape file and paste in my design.
Is there a way to disable this AUTO AI grouping, let me deside when to group and un group. Just imagine if man have 12 different closely spaced objects and you paste a object close to or over them and they all weld to each other :\
If you have recently updated to v1.2 from an older version of Inkscape, please press the Reset Preferences button in the System section of Preferences.
Feel free to share a link to an example Inkscape svg file, or reply back again to get a second post approved. One the second post is approved, you can reply and attach an example file.
Probably this isn't a bug. When you double click in a object within a group you "enter" that group. If you move objects, edit or even create new objects, it all will be confined to that original group. To exit a group, click on any object outside that group.
At julioneto, the example you show is almost the same. But like in your example mine will merge all that on your page to one "unit" "group if i just paste the "blue/green/yellow" to the page. It was not part off the page nor the group you move around. Before i paste it to the page i make sure all stuff is deselect so i dont paste to or in a group. My common sense tells me if i paste new parts to the page and its not part off that group it should stay separate, not so?
I am currently on 1.1 but this pain grouping problem comes from early early versions.
So in short, my English not so good and maybe i describe it bit hard :)
- i have two svg files open i copy one object and paste it to another open svg file.
- i do deselect all in the svg file where to i do the paste.
after paste all auto group to each other like it was one group.
You just have never got out of the group. Just by clicking outside the group isn't enough. All the things I did bellow was all under the same group. Open the Layers and objects panel to see how the they are really organized.

No such thing as AUTO AI in Inkscape.
