Please, make the verb on Inkscape or put some command to set a keyboard shortcut for toggling the lock of the aspect ratio (width and height) of any object.
Many times I have hands on keyboard (using the quite useful available shortcuts) that is uncomfortable to grab the mouse to just lock the aspect ratio of an object.
@David248, yes, I browsed in global inskscape preferences-shortcuts, but there is no verb associated to that.
Yes, I use the Ctrl+clic when in Select tool to proportionally scale, but I still believe there is the need to change the lock status of dimensions.
@TylerDurden, I forgot about that pair of shortcuts.
I think it is usuable to have a toggle command to lock/unlock the proportionality of any object. In fact, it is one of those buttons that are not accesible via keyboard, and for accesibility issues, it's a real enhacemenet.

You probably know that when using selector [s] tool, holding ctrl key when resizing preserves aspect ratio.
Did you browse the possible shortcuts in global inkscape preferences ?
The keys < and > scale proportionally as well.

That is a good point.
