Beyond the Basics Rotate while locking orientation

I have a use case where i create evacuation plans. That often involve rotating between standing orientation and lying orientation of the entire plan. This is easy enough but all the symbols in the plan then has to be individually rotated back to their original orientation. Is there some way to lock a group while changing the orientation around it?

To get an idea of what i need: the plan is a rectangle lying on its side. I have three symbols on it that always need to be oriented a certain way to be legible. Now i rotate the plan so it is standing on its side. Can the symbols keep its orientation while doing this?

It can be done with multiple steps.

After rotating the entire diagram, I'd select only the symbols and use the transform dialog to rotate them independently.

Another option I'd consider, is to use a single symbol in a group, and place clones of the group throughout the diagram instead of copies/duplicates. The symbol in the Parent (original) group can be rotated and the clones will update.

If the symbols you refer to are SVG Symbols, the process may be simplified by editing the svg symbol.
