Beyond the Basics Internal Error when Kerning using SVG Font Editor

I've run into a problem when making my fonts, and I could use some help either solving it or figuring out how to solve it.

I made my font and added all the glyphs, and now I have to change the kerning because, for example, the letter L is too far apart.

At first, I went to the Kerning tab and was able to add pairs and change them.  Then I went back to the glyph tab and played with the Advance value.

After this, I went back to the Kerning tab, picked two Glyphs, and hit "Add Pair."  Right after I get the "Internal Error" message and Inkscape closes.

I tried making a new file to replicate it.  I can Add Pairs, up until I change the Advance value.  Once I do that, Adding Pairs will cause a crash.  This happens regardless of whether the Glyphs I add have had their Advance value changed or not.

I haven't been able to find help with this problem online, nor find a post in the forums referring to this.  How can I go about fixing this, and what other info is needed.  Thanks for the help!  :)

I have not tried the Font Editor in years as I had a lot of crashing some years and versions ago. I probably should have reported the issues, but I did not because I had little or no knowledge of kerning at the time and I primarily create handwritten fonts and then have an easier case on the kerning part. I partly use FontForge (open source font editor) when it comes to details and mostly I get the results I want with just the right and left bearing that is quite easily done using the Custom Stroke Font extension which I highly recommend when creating fonts using Inkscape.  Here you can read about how I use the Custom Stroke Font extension.
