I cannot reproduce this. And I've tried it under all the various circumstances which I thought might be able to reproduce it. It still keeps working.
Are you able to share the SVG file? Maybe there's something in your file that I can't anticipate. If we could look at it, we could probably solve the problem.
I tried ungroup and anything that looks suspect but still when i flow into frame the text desappears but does not appear in the frame....just desappear
It works but not as expected for me either, or perhaps I'm just not familiar with how it works, the manual is not helpful. I'm on 92.4. The text 'jumps' to below the circle, instead of in the circle. If that's what it is supposed to do, then it worked. Is there a choice on where and how it gets flowed, to get the text inside the circle? The status bar shows it as 'linked flowed text... truncated'. It worked properly for me in .48 (well I think it did), but this is the first time I've tried in 92.4. I tried converting the the circle to a path, did the same jump thing. I tried selecting the text first, still jumped, and tried selecting the circle first, still jumped. No idea what the cause could be of the text being outside of the circle. Perhaps there's a tut that better explains how to use it.
It works in the end. But i had to do a new file not the original one. Even if i see the spacing as you indicated it did not change anything......I still had the problem; But when creating a new document AND a new frame (the old frame in the new docuement did not work either with 1.25 space) then it worked. I guess there must be something wrong with the frame.
Thanks a lot for all your support and time. Good week end
Had the same issue. In my case after I run Flow into Frame the text got eiter extra tiny or extra big so it doesn't get displayed. Just go to your text tools after that and adjust your text size.
I had the same problem with that, then I tried to re-install the inkscape 1.01 which has file extension of *.msi (not *.exe). Not bad, it could work. Just try this way...after all, ajusting the fontsize to the frame until it fits to what you want...
Hi,
I have a text and a circle. I would like the text to flow into the circle.
I click with the mouse + shift on both to select them together and then : text / flow into frame
But the text does not appear in the frame. Nothing is displayed.
Can anyone tell me what i do wrong ? Thanks a lot in advance for your help
Regards
SB
Does the text disappear when you try it?
Which version of Inkscape are you using?

Very likely the OP dragged a flowed text rectangle when creating the text..
Indeed, I didn't try that.
However trying it, that seems to work as expected, as well. At least it does for me, in 0.92.3
Flow will also fail if one object is grouped.
Thanks a lot guys; I really much appreciate your support and I am grateful for that.
I have done it 3 days ago with text in a rectangle on the same PC and it worked well. So i am a bit puzzled.
I am not on my PC right now. I will try again tonight considering all your input above.
Thank you very much again

May you be a bit more specific when you say "Very likely the OP dragged a flowed text rectangle when creating the text.. "
I am new to Inkscape and this is not very intuitive to me.
What are the steps to perform to sort this out ?
Thanks again very much
Hi Trinaxia,
In Inkscape you always get helpful tips, down at the bottom of the window.
So if you try to do something and it doesn't work, perhaps it gives you a clue.
I tried that too, and it still worked as expected, haha!
For myself, after much testing, I would need to see the SVG file, to find the problem.

Thanks a lot again

I use version 0.92

The line-height on your text is 0 - somehow, that makes it vanish. Can you check line height in your text tool settings when you have typed a text?
Thank you. I don't see it as zero. May be i am looking at the wrong place. Please see attachment.
Thank you again for your good support

Well, I think what Maren means is in a different place.
Switch to the text tool. You should see this:
If it is set to 0, your text disappears.

Yes, there's definitely a bug in play.
